Located just off of Highway #16 on Highway #16A, Vegreville is just a few kilometres away from two major highways – Highway #36, a major North/South Transportation corridor that goes all the way south to Mexico, and of course, The Yellowhead or Highway #16, one of the major East/West transportations corridors in all of Canada. The Yellowhead is a 4-lane divided highway that goes from Vancouver to Winnipeg and from there, via Highway #1, all the way across Canada to Newfoundland.
Vegreville is a short 75-minute drive to the Edmonton International Airport, which is one of the fastest-growing airports in Canada. It has direct flights all around the world and great connections to anywhere you want to fly. It is also a major freight terminal and the Gateway to the North – Northern Canada.
Canadian National Railroads has a mainline running right thru the middle of Vegreville and has spurs located on both the east and west sides of town at the two-grain terminals – Grains Connect and Viterra. This mainline connects with CN’s intermodal yard in Edmonton, which has links to the west coast and ship access to the Pacific Rim Countries, and to Thunder Bay, which has ship access to all ports around the Atlantic Ocean.
