Survey Results Highlight Business Opportunities in Vegreville
Vegreville, AB (August 13, 2026) – The Town of Vegreville has released the results of a Business Needs & Opportunities Survey it conducted throughout the month of July, providing new insight into local spending habits, perceived gaps in the community and potential opportunities for new or expanded businesses.
Results indicate that respondents are frequent supporters of Vegreville businesses with more than 94% of respondents reporting that they purchase products or services locally at least once per week, including approximately 78% who do so daily or several times per week. At the same time, the survey identified several areas where spending is leaving the community or where respondents believe additional opportunities may exist.
Among the findings:
- Specialty bakery, deli, butcher or seafood products were the most requested additional or expanded retail offering, selected by 42% of respondents, followed by a larger general merchandise or department store at 29%.
- In dining, respondents showed the greatest interest in a sit-down bakery or café (28%) and craft brewery, taproom or distillery tasting room (26%), while late-night dining after 9:00 p.m. was identified by 67% of respondents as Vegreville’s greatest gap in food and beverage service hours.
- Respondents showed interest in additional indoor entertainment and recreation, particularly children’s play spaces, arts and craft studios, cooking or baking classes, board-game cafés and multi-purpose indoor recreation concepts.
The survey results are intended to serve as a resource for existing businesses, entrepreneurs, developers, commercial property owners, real estate professionals and prospective investors considering opportunities in Vegreville.
